These are excellent tips. Some are so obvious though, like profanity and attaching other commenters, but I guess it is needed to be said - unfortunately. Thanks!

We have been receiving a lot of comments at the moment that say something like, "this is great, it has really helped with my university paper".

But the commenter name is something like, "how to build a fence for your home"

Some interesting names at university these days!

I'm behind on my reading, but when I saw this, WOW! I feel better now knowing that I'm not the only one thinking about this. I've been deleting a lot of BS comments. I think they average about 1 in 5 and I still delete those. If they do not mention anything regarding the post, it bye-bye dude. Thx

Like any blogger out there, I have been seriously fighting against spam especially because my blog is do follow. I used to have KeywordLuv installed on my site but keyword abuse get on me so I decided to remove it and put up a comment policy.

However, despite the reminders, some people kept on doing the same mistakes above which leaves me no choice but to do what I need to do.

There's even a point when a commentator emailed me for removing his URL's hyperlink in the comment explaining that the keywords he placed instead of his name was long been his practice since 2006. The guy requested me to delete his entire comment because he feels that I wasn't fair.

To his dismay, he dissed me on Twitter and called me names. I was simply implementing a guideline and if people can't follow that, it's not my problem. How's that for a comment moderation nightmare? If you're on my position, what could have been your reaction?
