Get Daily Blog Tips Updates on Your Mobile Phone

If you have visited the blog lately you probably noticed a third icon on the top right corner that says “Mobile.” Basically we are testing out this new service, provided by TxtVox, that will allow our readers to receive updates from the blog via their mobile phones.

The cool thing about the service is that it is free both for the blogger and for the subscribers. On top of that, the blogger can also earn money, depending on the amount of mobile subscribers that he will get. Each SMS is sent with an advertisement at the end, and the blogger takes 50% of the revenues.

Not a bad idea from TxtVox, since it turns out to be a win-win situation for all the three parties involved (bloggers, subscribers that like to receive updates on their mobile, and the company providing the service).

My “Mobile” icon has been live only for some days, and most readers were probably not aware of it, so I can’t say how effective this subscription method is. I will track the numbers though and keep you guys updated. If you want to get free updates from Daily Blog Tips on your mobile, here is the link to subscribe.

The overall number of mobile subscribers will probably depend on the niche and style of the blog as well. News related or entertaining blogs might be favored here, since their readers probably want to receive posts as soon as they are published, and the length of those posts would be shorter and more appropriate for the medium.

Regardless, it could be worth a try. It is free, after all.

The only disadvantage that I noticed is it is available only for US subscribers as I could see only eleven carriers at the bottom of their terms and conditions.

I am from India .I too try for this service but it doesn’t accept my mobile number(Vodophone number). It show the message as “Sorry, but this phone number does not appear to be a mobile phone, and no carrier could be determined”
This service is available only for the following carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, Virgin, Suncom, Boost, Nextel, Cellular South, nTelos.I think no above said carriers in india. So it wont suit for Indian bloggers

Yeah - seems to only work in the States.

  9. Amaan Goyal on July 10th, 2008 9:42 am

the service seems to work currently in US , i guess after the initial test phase you might like to extend it to all subscribers.

  10. Daniel Scocco on July 10th, 2008 10:33 am

@Satish and Jarapritha, the service is only enabled on the U.S for no, but as Amaan said I think they do have plans to extend it soon enough.

Got something to say?
