Interlink Series of Posts

Series of posts have many benefits for a blog. They engage the reader, they break a longer concept into smaller, easily digestible pieces and they build momentum (you can read more about that on the article “Long Posts vs. Series of Posts“).

One mistake that many people do when writing a series, however, is to forget to interlink the posts. Those interlinks will ensure that the readers can follow the different posts on the series easily, adding stickiness and page views. You can see an example of interlinking here.

I think interlinking within your site is a great tool.

When doing a series it’s also important to do an intro post of tell them what you’re going to tell them.

I’ll go back and update the intro post with links to the new posts as they come out.

Then do an outro posts of tell them what you just told them with a list again.

I’ve used the interlinking posts of on a couple of series and it works great. Plan to use them again on a couple other series projects in the very near future.

I’ve never done a “series of posts” but if I did, then interlinking would have been paramount.

The best way to interlink posts of a series within a wordpress weblog is to use the “in series” plugin which i described here: http://bloganbieter.de/2007/01.....-schreibt/
