In a month and a half, I've written more than 100 articles for Demand studios. Sure, they are pretty mindless, but say I could write 50 relatively interesting articles per month. Then, on HubPages, I'd have exactly 600 articles in one year, feeding me hundreds of dollars per month, say $400 per month, for as long as HubPages is running. Meanwhile, at the rate I'm going, I'll earn 8,400 in a year at Demand Studios. It would take me 21 months after getting my HubPages up and running to get as much as Demand would pay me... but I wouldn't have to work too hard during that time. Immediate reward v. long-term income. Very interesting.

Thank you for this review of our site, HubPages. We do indeed have a lot of people who have put together high-quality, useful content and are seeing the benefit in terms of AdSense and other monetization program earnings, as well as plenty of community feedback and interaction with their writing.

I do want to clarify, though, that you DO own your Hubs - you can unpublish them, delete them, and move them elsewhere as you please.
http://hubpages.com/faq/#whoownscontent

The reasons that many of our users write on HubPages instead of (or in addition to) on their own sites/blogs include:

* The site has a high trust factor with Google. New Hubs are indexed quickly and get relatively high provisional ranking. (New sites often languish in the sandbox for a while until Google trusts the content and starts to see lots of high-quality backlinks to it)

* There are a lot of features users can easily add to their Hubs (like polls, quizzes, etc.)

* You really don't need to know any HTML whatsoever to put together a high-quality Hub

* There are thousands of active users who give feedback (in the form of comments) to high-quality freshly-published Hubs

That said, a lot of our users publish elsewhere, but a strikingly high number say they prefer HubPages, due to higher earnings, a friendlier community, or a stable, easy-to-use publishing platform.

Thank you again for your post!

Hubpages has a good reputation with Google and other search engines which means your hubs will index quickly and often rank well too.I use hubpages to link back to relevant post on my own blog.

However, what you are not telling your audience is that they will get much more traffic for writing a hub than if they simply published an article on their own website. I write on blogger, examiner.com, ehow, and Hubpages, and by far I make the most from Hubpages. Also, selling your website at a future date seems a little iffy to me, and some of us actually write on the web because we enjoy writing.
