I renewed my domain name for 10 years about a year ago hoping it would increase the PageRank with Google. Unfortunately the PageRank hasn't increased yet!

Thanks, Daniel. Your advice to Ramkarthik is very helpful to me, as I "might" be able to swing a 5-year registration, but "know" I can do at least one year. It's encouraging to think that doing well with just one year's registration is a lot better than doing nothing at all.

Cheers!

In as much as I've heard this somewhere before, I'm still skeptical as to how effective longer periods of registration are. I just prepaid my domain renewal fee so I'll cough out another $10 and register it for an extra 1 year making 2 years. Let's see how this and the backlinks I've been generating, help during the next GPR update.

I am 1 of the 1and1 sufferers without the option to renew to the longer period that i want, but even if you are renewing year on year you are still reaping that ageing factor, it just takes a little longer to get there.

I don`t sweat it too much, i just try and concentrate on the content of the domains that i build.

I wish 1and1 have the option for registering a name for more then a year.

I think it is a good idea for people to register their name for longer since it atleast prevents someone from stealing your name if you forgot to register it.

Plus, since the US dollar is not very strong. You can pay less for a 10 year plan. I remember when the canadian dollar was the same value as the USD, and I save a few bucks registering an domain instead of paying an extra 30 cents per doller.
